A better standard for hiring

The Hubert Candidate Pledge

Hiring decisions shape people’s lives and careers. Every candidate deserves a process that is fair, transparent, and respectful, not one hidden behind opaque technology.

Across industries, candidates are increasingly assessed by AI systems that cannot explain their decisions, are not grounded in validated science, and were never designed with fairness in mind. Candidates deserve better and so do the employers who depend on these outcomes.

At Hubert, we believe that how candidates are assessed matters just as much as who gets hired. This belief shapes every decision we make.

Hubert does not make hiring decisions. People do.
This is our pledge to candidates:

1

AI should serve candidates, not judge them

We use AI to deliver exceptional, personalized omnichannel experiences at scale - smooth, intuitive and accessible. Large Language Models (LLMs) can be used effectively to create a smooth and high-quality candidate experience, but cannot be trusted to truthfully assess or judge candidates.
2

We won't let a 'black box' LLM decide a candidate's future

We do not use opaque, generative models or ‘black box’ LLMs to make or justify hiring decisions. Assessment must be consistent, it must be valid and it must be defensible.

Therefore, Hubert will not use LLMs to assess candidates or determine outcomes until the science and evidence supports it.
3

Explainability is a human right

Candidates deserve to understand how they are evaluated. If a candidate asks why they progressed, or why they didn’t, there must be a clear, evidence-based answer. “The model decided” is not acceptable.

Our hiring technology must be explainable to candidates, hiring managers, compliance teams, regulators, and if necessary, a court. If we can’t explain it, we won’t ship it.
4

Science-backed and fair for everyone

Our assessments are built on structured interviews, competency-based questions, and established industrial-organizational psychology. Every candidate intake is evaluated using the same criteria, applied in the same way.

We believe that AI should reduce inconsistency, bias, and noise in hiring - not introduce it and replace human accountability. That’s why we’ve built technology that supports recruiters with insights and data, while leaving the final decision and responsibility where it belongs: with people.

We will not launch models without extensive bias testing and are fully committed to unbiased processes.
5

We believe every candidate deserves feedback

Candidates should not be left in the dark. Wherever possible, Hubert enables clear feedback that helps candidates understand their strengths and areas for development.
6

Your data belongs to you as a candidate

Candidates will always know when AI is used in their hiring process. Data is collected only for the purposes of the assessment, stored securely, and personal data will never be used to train models. Candidates have the right to ask how the process works and to expect a clear answer. We will always comply fully with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR.
7

Hubert will evolve responsibly

AI will continue to change. When it does, we will adapt carefully, transparently, and with candidate impact as the first consideration.

We put our names to this because we mean it.
